NEST
NEST is an ever-changing solo through movement and text. A frenzied and hyper-occupied dialogue through movement and performativity, with and by Ida Hørlyck Thomsen herself. The solo was created in her 21st year of life and shows a twisted mosaic and interpretation of this tender state of age. Delicate and silent moments are found next to the brutal, repulsive and explosive ones, mainly accompanied by the uncomfortable notes of Björk’s “Black Lake”.
The solo constantly balance in between the mechanic and organic, coated in a minimalistic, yet dreamy, groovy and sparkly fairy tale-sphere, which works as the frame of realizing the fact of being a sensual ~something~, but still in total contact and control of your inner child, heroines and Scandinavian roots.

“The temperature of the piece is frosty, nevertheless full of heart.
I wear my heart on my sleeve and am the skeleton of a majestic peacock; a bird that has always terrified yet still fascinated me.
The piece is the color of me. Blue.
Passion, Pain and Power.
I am searching for the clichés of Nordic mystery and the tortured soloist that is “always” accompanied by classical music, when I´m, after all, actually just this little rotten doll.”

NEST< is the noble, funky and shortened little sister-version of the 12 minutes solo by Ida Hørlyck Thomsen.

NEST < is not a solo that tries to reach any conclusion, point of no return or climax, but rather it is an attempt to peel off unesssecerary decoration and get into the most simple and pure gestures, yet in the framework of something groovy and in recognizable pictures. NEST< is an investigation of internal intimacy and sensuality in a fragmented way. Yet, it is likely to see it as this little and alive picture or illustrated book. Eventually, this short ‘book’ of sparkle and darkness will close its pages again.
