Rito De Primavera

With Rito de Primavera (Frühlingsopfer), Chilean choreographer, anthropologist and sociologist José Vidal has created a completely new rite for our times - an ecstatic celebration of dance and the body appealing to all senses. Fifty dancers, and a specially composed electronic soundtrack by multi-instrumentalist and DJ Jim Hast and musician Andy Abarzúa, pull the audience into a meditative trance from the piece’s very first note.
Initiating a celebratory experience similar to a happening, they invite them to feel the irrepressible and mysterious forces that lie behind the legend of the Rite of Spring, which Stravinsky composed for Nijinski in 1913. For Jose Vidal, the piece does not just present a sacrifice, it also celebrates the fantastic power of life’s renewal. And nothing resists the musical and physical intensity of this new rite. Not even the audience, who end up joining the dancers on the stage to share the intensity of the sensuous electronic finale.
